Metal Building Contractor in Colorado
Colorado is home. Mountain State Construction is a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) erector and steel building contractor with more than 40 projects across the state, from the Denver metro and Colorado Springs to the High Country and the Western Slope. Every building is engineered for its own site's snow, wind, hail and soils.
Four Colorado regions.
Colorado's conditions change fast between the plains, the foothills and the mountains. We work every part of the state and keep a dedicated page for each region.
Front Range
Denver, Boulder, Longmont, Littleton, Golden, Parker and north to La Salle and Red Feather Lakes. Our busiest region, with commercial buildings, shops and garages.
Explore Front RangeColorado Springs
Colorado Springs, Fountain, Peyton and El Paso County, where hail, wind and expansive soils set the envelope.
Explore Colorado SpringsHigh Country
Gypsum, Kremmling, Bailey, Marble, Hartsel and Salida, where snow and elevation drive the entire design.
Explore High CountryWestern Slope
Grand Junction, Glade Park, Rifle and Durango, including three aircraft hangars in Durango.
Explore Western SlopeColorado conditions.
A building that works on the eastern plains can be badly under-built at 8,000 feet, and the reverse wastes money. We engineer every frame to the snow, wind, hail and ground at your exact site.
Snow & Elevation
Snow load climbs quickly with elevation. In the High Country it governs the whole design, so we size framing to your site, not a county average.
Wind
Downslope winds along the foothills and open exposure on the plains both push wind design up. We set wind speed and exposure per site.
Hail
The Front Range and Colorado Springs sit in one of the most active hail areas in the country, which shapes panel and roof choices.
Soils
Expansive clays along the Front Range and shale on the Western Slope make the foundation worth a careful look. A geotechnical report drives the design.
Cold & Frost
Hard freeze-thaw cycles and deeper frost in the mountains set footing depth and shape the foundation.
Code & Permitting
Requirements vary between cities and counties across the state. We deliver engineered, stamped drawings built to the authority that governs your site.

Every building type, across Colorado.
Our Colorado work includes commercial buildings and warehouses, aircraft hangars in Salida and Durango, a riding arena, farm and agricultural storage, steel shops and garages and barndominiums. Start with the building type that fits your project, then bring it into a quote for your site.

Where in Colorado do you build?
Statewide. We have completed projects across the Front Range, Colorado Springs, the High Country and the Western Slope, plus the eastern plains in places like Kiowa and Limon.
How many buildings have you erected in Colorado?
More than 40 projects across the state, from garages and shops to a 97x161 sports complex in Littleton and a 60x156 aircraft hangar in Salida.
How do you handle mountain snow and Front Range hail?
Snow load is sized to your site's elevation, and hail exposure factors into panel and roof choices. Both are set per site, not from a statewide figure.
Will you provide drawings for the permit?
Yes. We deliver engineered, stamped drawings built to the city or county that governs your site.
Do you build outside Colorado?
Yes. We also build in New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Arizona, and take on larger projects farther afield.
